With thousands of compositions to his name, Pandit Vakil has established a modern form of classical tabla playing. As a composer, his work has a contemporary feel while carrying the essence and richness of a classical art form. His compositions appeal to the masses and maestros. He not only creates pure tabla compositions, but has worked with various arts bringing together different instruments and art forms, including Korean drumming, standard drum kit, and more.
His compositions present a modern adaptation of classical tabla. Some his group tabla compositions include Tabla Tarkhat, Power of Tabla, Tabla Triveni and Tabla Ecstasy. Many of his group tabla compositions are performed by his contemporary classical tabla ensemble Talavya. One of his newest projects is Pradhanica – a kathak dance and world drums ensemble.

Heena stepped into the business of performing arts when she began exploring how to build US tours for Rhythm Riders’ India based artists including Korean kathak dancer Jin Won and her tabla guru’s tabla ensemble Talavya. In the process of building Talavya’s presence in the US from nothing to 2-3 tours per year for 5 consecutive years, she has assumed the role of manager, agent, marketer, visa expert, and artist (harmonium) for the ensemble as well as other Rhythm Riders’ artists.
She’s now looking forward to sharing her expertise to help more artists realize their dream of having financially viable careers as artists, while nurturing cross-cultural exchange through the arts.
